Baseline 99

Foba Lasers and Tooling

Baseline 99 works with Spinetti Machinery, the West Coast distributor for Foba, on Foba laser sales, installation, service, and training. We also design and build the fixturing that makes Foba systems faster to run.

Foba laser systems

Foba sales and service are provided through Spinetti Machinery, with Baseline 99 as your hands-on local contact.

Sales

Help choosing the right Foba system for your parts, materials, and marking requirements.

Installation

On-site setup and commissioning so your system is marking parts, not sitting in a crate.

Service

Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair from a shop close enough to show up.

Training

Hands-on operator training on your own machine, using your own parts.

Foba M-Series workstations

The M-Series are enclosed, Class 1 laser marking workstations for direct part marking and traceability. They come in two sizes, the M2000 for medium parts and the M3000 for large parts, each in three versions: B with a worktable and programmable Z-axis, P with programmable X, Y, and Z axes, and R with a two-station rotary table. Fiber and UV lasers and integrated vision inspection are available. Our M2000 and M3000 baseplates, further down this page, are made for the B and P models.

Foba M2000-R laser marking workstation

M2000-R

Two-station rotary table, 670 mm across, that turns 180° in 1.2 seconds. Load one station while the other marks. Made for serial parts such as medical devices, implants, and surgical instruments.

Foba M2000-P laser marking workstation

M2000-P

Programmable X, Y, and Z axes for marking trays of small parts or several positions on one part. Takes workpieces up to 620 × 490 × 450 mm.

Foba M3000-P laser marking workstation

M3000-P

The larger housing, with 520 mm of X travel and room for workpieces up to 970 × 490 × 450 mm. Also available with a UV laser.

See exactly where the mark will go

Foba systems can be fitted with a camera that looks through the laser’s own lens and scan mirrors. The image on screen is the marking field itself, so where you place the mark on the screen is where the laser puts it on the part. No test parts, no trial and error, no guessing at offsets.

Point & Shoot: place the mark by hand

Set the part in the machine, see it on screen, and drag the mark onto it where you want it. You can even build a new job from an already-marked part, without a drawing.

IMP: automatic alignment and checking

Intelligent Mark Positioning finds the part and its orientation on its own and lines the mark up to it. Before marking, it confirms the right part is in place and hasn’t already been marked. Afterward, it checks the mark’s position, reads every character back, and grades 1D and 2D codes, including UDI codes for medical device traceability.

MarkUS software

Foba systems run on MarkUS. Designer is where jobs are built, with imports from common formats like DXF and Illustrator files. Runtime gives operators a simple screen to load and run jobs, with separate user levels so jobs can’t be changed by accident. The built-in Laser Parameter Expert suggests settings by material, so a new job doesn’t start from scratch.

Baseplates

Our baseplates give your Foba workstation a precision hole grid to build setups on. Rows and columns are laser-marked with letters and numbers, so any setup can be written down by grid position and rebuilt exactly the same way next time. Fixtures locate on the grid and lock down, so switching jobs takes minutes instead of a new setup.

Baseline 99 10-spindle indexer fitted with custom clear part-holding mandrels, installed in a Foba laser marker at a customer’s facility
A 10-spindle indexer at a customer’s facility, fitted with mandrels we made to hold their parts.

Multi-spindle indexer for medical marking

Our 10-spindle indexer mounts to the baseplate and marks small parts in batches, indexing each spindle under the laser in turn. It was built for medical device makers who need consistent, repeatable marks across high volumes of small parts.

Each indexer is fitted with mandrels we machine to hold your specific part, so parts load quickly and sit in the same position every cycle.
